Michigan – A Michigan woman battling cancer is speaking out about her ordeal at a Seattle airport in which she was asked to lift her shirt and bandages covering her feeding tube at a security checkpoint. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the woman, Michelle Dunaj, 34, says her request for a more private pat-down was denied and she was subjected to the treatment while in line at the Sea-Tac Airport.
Dunaj is quoted by the AP as stating of the incident, “My issue is: It was in front of everyone, and everyone was looking at me like I was a criminal or like I was doing something wrong…It shouldn’t have been in front of everyone.”
The Transportation Security Administration reportedly looked into the incident following a report on the story by the media. Northwest Region spokeswoman Lorie Dankers is quoted by the AP as stating in an email, “We work to make our screening procedures as minimally invasive as possible while still proving the level of security that the American people want and deserve.”
