Georgene Harkness, editor-in-chief of Dallas publisher HowToHackAnything.com, announced today that her firm has published a new author twice in the last month.
Your Mortgage – How to Save Thousands by Realizing It’s Your Money by Y. Patrick Mazor was published in early September and gained immediate popularity. As a result of that response, Ms. Harkness asked the author to develop a companion workbook. This week, HowToHackAnything.com released Two Can Play the Jargon Game – A Mortgage Application Self-Help Workbook in response to demand.
Ms. Harkness said, “Where Your Mortgage provides a lot of good information on the mortgage process and industry, Two Can Play the Jargon Game is a very powerful book that is 100% practical. Patrick starts his second book by going through all the jargon and buzz phrases that many mortgage loan originators use and explains each thoroughly. He then goes on to walk mortgage applicants through the Uniform Residential Loan Application, commonly called a ‘ten-oh-three’ because it is the Fannie Mae form 1003. His explanations and step-by-step process are the most thorough and easy to understand that I have ever seen. As a certified public accountant, which I am, I think that says a great deal. Patrick goes on to walk readers through Verifications, Letters of Explanation, ratios, and a list of all the documentation that is required when submitting a mortgage loan package.
“With these two books, Patrick Mazor and HowToHackAnything.com are providing a wealth of practical and useful information to readers. One of the things I like most about the books is Patrick’s writing style. He writes in conversational, fun, and easy-to-understand language. His dry but entertaining sense of humor comes through frequently especially in the chapter where he chronicles his experiences as a mortgage loan officer.
“It is clear that Mr. Mazor has two sincere objectives with his books. The first is helping borrowers understand and move through the mortgage loan application process efficiently. The second is to bring a sense of transparency and accountability to mortgage lending. I believe, as his publisher, that Patrick has achieved those goals brilliantly.”
In 2008, Georgene, an avid cruise enthusiast, set out to discover ways to locate bargain cruise pricing and then wrote a book on that very topic. Rather than seeking outside publication, she published the book herself through Amazon.com. Since then, she has expanded her publishing enterprise and most recently published Your Mortgage and, less than a month later, Two Can Play the Jargon Game.
Ms. Harkness, herself, used the tips in Your Mortgage to save thousands of dollars when refinancing a mortgage and this was one of her primary reasons for choosing to publish Mr. Mazor’s first book.
As Georgene pointed out, Mr. Mazor’s writing is conversational in style. Overall, the books are easy reads that provide an abundance of examples along with little known information about how the mortgage lending industry operates.
When we asked Mr. Mazor how he felt about being published twice in less than a month, he said, “It’s surrealistic. I was thrilled when Your Mortgage was published. When Georgene asked me to create a workbook, especially so soon after the first release, that surrealistic wave intensified. While writing Jargon, I saw an opportunity for offering webinars and workshops and just recently completed the development of those. They were easy to develop because they parallel the workbook. Back in the 1980s, I presented seminars on communication skills in sales and sales management. I am looking forward to speaking and offering workshops again.”
Your Mortgage – You Can Save Thousands By Realizing It’s Your Money and Two Can Play the Jargon Game – A Mortgage Application Self-Help Workbook are available on Amazon.com. The two books are each priced at $9.95. Both books will be offered as “free downloads” on October 13, October 29, November 15, and again on December 4. Kindle users will be able to purchase and download the books at no cost. Patrick can be contacted through his website www.PatrickMazor.com and Ms. Harkness through her website www.HowToHackAnything.com.
