Richland Hills, Texas – A Texas father was arrested after carving a pentagram into the back of his 6-year-old son. As reported by the New York Daily News, the man, Brent Troy Bartel, 39, splashed the blood of the child on the floor after carving him with what police believe was used in the incident, a box cutter found at the scene.
Bartel reportedly told dispatchers that he “shed some innocent blood… Because it’s a holy day.”
Richland Hills police Sgt. Nathan Stringer is quoted in the report as stating to local news station WFAA.com, “This is something you normally hear about in the movies, not something you expect to see.”
The child was taken to Cooks Children’s Hospital. Bartel has been charged with aggravated assault on a family member.
