/EINPresswire.com/ UK (Submitpressrelease123.com – press release) Colleagues from The Midcounties Co-op Travel in Nottingham will be thinking of those closer to home this Christmas as they lend a hand at the city’s biggest charities.

The six from the newly opened independent travel branch in Kings Street are hoping to bring the values of cooperation to the city at this time of year and will join the dedicated team at Nottingham Women’s Centre to help in the kitchen at its Christmas Eve Soup Kitchen.

The centre, in Chaucer Street in the city, provides support for women and their children who are in need of food, advice and care. The volunteers will be helping staff to serve food to all those dropping in to the centre on Monday 24 December.

Along with hot food, women visiting the centre can enjoy the warm environment, collect small gifts for their children and stock up on donated clothes for them and their family.

Tresa Storer, manager at the travel branch, said: “At Christmas you can’t help but think about the people who are less well off, so we are all looking forward to giving something back this festive season. The whole team feel that giving a few hours to help the Women’s Centre with their important work here in Nottingham on Christmas Eve is the least we can do.”

Nottingham Women’s Centre was founded in 1971 and became the first place in the city where women could get advice, information, support and care. The centre now offers a safe and supportive environment for women in need to help save and change lives.
