Local authorities and businesses should check their rock salt stocks following emergency weather warnings issued today (Thursday 17 January) for many parts of the UK.
Traditional brown rock salt, white rock salt and de-icers can be ordered online and promptly dispatched from Icethaw’s depots around the country to replenish flagging or compromised supplies.
Delivery times range from an efficient 24 hours for emergency (overnight) deliveries to standard transportation times of three to four days.
Michael Hanson, managing director of Icethaw, said: “Rock salt has been heavily used on and off for the past few weeks and businesses in particular may be unaware that they need to re-order.”
“Recent rain fall may also have damaged what stocks they do have, so it’s worth checking before the snow arrives.”
“We have thousands of pallets and tonnes of rock salt ready to be mobilised. It’s quick and easy to order rock salt online and we also have a sales team on hand to help.”
The Met Office issued severe weather warnings for England, Wales, and southern Scotland on Friday: amber alerts for snow and blizzard conditions.
Mr Hanson added: “While current weather predictions counsel people to ‘be aware’ rather than ‘take action’, experience tells us that it’s better to be prepared.”
Icethaw supplies rock salt and de-icers to hundreds of local authorities, government agencies, public sector organisations, garden centres and homeowners.
Icethaw has noted a ‘light flurry’ of online orders for emergency overnight delivery of rock salt in the past 24 hours and anticipates more.
Icethaw is the oldest independent rock salt supplier in England and has been managed so far by four generations of the same family.
