New York – A personal injury lawyer who recently entered into a bigamous marriage with his mistress has been placed on suspension. As reported by Reuters, Manhattan attorney Joseph Rosenzweig was suspended for six months by the Appellate Division, First Department, after purportedly making the claim to a Jamaican government official that he was single so that he could marry his mistress in the island country.
Rosenzweig sought to be publicly censured in the case as opposed to receiving a suspension.
Michael Ross, Rosenzweig’s lawyer, is quoted by Reuters as stating of his client, who claims he and his mistress did not intend to live in the U.S. as husband and wife, that he “looks forward to putting this unfortunate portion of his life behind him”
