Small businesses should make use of a new set of guides uploaded to video sharing website YouTube in order to get straight on tax issues, Parcel2Go has said.
The parcel delivery specialist has urged SMEs to check out the suite of new videos produced by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) if they feel they need help understanding complicated tax matters, whether they’re trading on a domestic or international level. HMRC first began imparting advice via online videos in 2011, but the latest set of films offer more focused advice to businesses. A total of 21 videos have been posted on HMRC’s YouTube page in recent weeks, covering a huge range of topics including payroll systems, PAYE, VAT, corporation tax, registering as an employer and record keeping.

Data from HMRC shows that around four out of five new businesses already register online for VAT. Around 850,000 taxpayers missed this year’s January 31 deadline for filing their self-assessment tax returns, and were hit with a £100 fine as a result.
