New Jersey – Singer Dionne Warwick has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy claiming to owe the IRS more than $10 million. As reported by omg!, Warwick filed for bankruptcy last week in New Jersey through a federal court.
Kevin Sasaki, a publicist for Warwick, has stated the millions owed by the singer are for penalties and interest and that the overdue back taxes were paid.
Sasaki is quoted in the report as stating of why Warwick resorted to a bankruptcy filing, “In light of the magnitude of her tax liabilities, Warwick has repeatedly attempted to offer re-payment plans and proposals to the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board for taxes owed. These plans were not accepted, resulting in escalating interest and penalties.”
