/EINPresswire.com/ “Unlocking the body’s ability to heal itself”
Providence, RI – March 28, 2013 — Science plus Art Fused Art Exhibition, by Kelly Milukas.
Keys can open hearts, they can unlock mysteries behind closed chambers, and they can set people free.
Kelly Milukas’s provocative Keys to the Cure exhibition at the prestigious Providence Art Club spans the broad and Freudian symbolism entwined with keys, locks, and the mysteries of the body.
Milukas’s exhibition opens on Sunday, April 7 and runs through April 26 in the Maxwell Mays Gallery, 11 Thomas Street, Providence RI.
Keys to the Cure is comprised of over 25 multi-media artworks that focus on the power of keys to unlock nothing less than the human code.
A dynamic interplay of paint, encaustic, photography, and sculpture, it tells the story of stem-cell research and regenerative medicine, and as such invites the viewer to ponder, celebrate and unlock the mysteries of life itself. Handmade keys float off painted color fields representing the interior tissues and organs of the body. Still more glowing keys hang from above with filaments and fibers symbolizing human veins and cells, a tantalizing promise of hope and rebirth.
Keys to the Cure was unveiled as a solo exhibition at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. in 2011. The series was commissioned by the Regenerative Medicine Foundation to visually translate, communicate, and educate the healing story of regenerative medicine to the global community. The Regenerative Medicine Foundation is an internationally focused not-for-profit organization that enables the advancement of new treatments and therapies based on regenerative medicine, and ultimately, to realize the goals of personalized medicine.
The exhibition debut announced that Milukas’s works would be made available to other exhibition venues, and this latest exhibit opening on April 7th contains original pieces plus many new works, including the ancient wax medium of encaustic paint, sculptures created in contemporary stone clay, cast and carved resin gilded with stunning 23 karat gold, palladium, copper and silver.
Artist Milukas sees her work as a unique collaboration between art and science with a goal of healing. “While visually capturing this extraordinary science revolution, I unlocked a part of my soul which I have worn like a badge, becoming one of the proud ambassadors pushing for change,” says Milukas.
“I have everyone’s color within me. Walk bravely beside me. We all hold the Keys to the Cure.” ~Milukas
