Florida – A Florida highway patrolman was fired after cutting a lawmaker a break on a ticket. As reported by FloridaToday.com, now Former Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Charles Swindle was terminated from his job after failing to issue a ticket to Jacksonville Republican lawmaker Rep. Charles McBurney, who subsequently wrote a letter to Col. David Brierton, director of the FHP, regarding his traffic stop.

McBurney is quoted in the report as stating in the letter, “If those who enforce our laws fail to meet the highest ethical standards, there is erosion of that confidence.
