Montana – Montana Governor Steve Bullock signed a bill Thursday decriminalizing gay sex. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), one of the state’s obsolete laws deeming gay sex as deviant was removed from the code after the signing of Senate Bill 107, 16 years after the state Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional.

Bullock is quoted by the AP as stating of the signing, “I am not going to speak too long because, frankly, the longer I talk, the longer this embarrassing and unconstitutional law stays on the books.”

Gay rights activists hope the removal of the outdated code will signal a movement toward further equality measures for those within LBGT community.
