With a standard 411-horsepower V8 engine and rugged all-terrain tires, the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is already an intimidating presence, but come this fall, it will be upping the ante with a new Special Edition package heading to dealerships. The 2014 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition will sport several exclusive styling cues inside and out that match the high-performance model’s aggressive demeanor.
Building on the SVT Raptor’s existing Luxury Package, the special-edition F-150 will offer the choice of a unique Ruby Red Metallic paint job or an optional Tuxedo Black Metallic exterior, along with box-side “Raptor SVT” graphics. Inside, the F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition will feature seat bolsters in Brick Red with black inserts and cloth honeycomb highlights, while a new console top finish panel and appliqué accents on the center stack and door panels will liven up the cabin.
“The F-150 SVT Raptor has the capability to conquer any trail, field or mountain road in New England, and the Special Edition will allow buyers to reflect that confidence with a bolder style throughout the truck,” said Jeff Klein, general manager of Thomas Ford, a Beverly, MA Ford dealership. “Adventurous buyers already love the existing model, and they are sure to be drawn to the SVT Raptor Special Edition, which will let them stand out even more, whether it’s on the job site or among the trees.”
Every Ford F-150 SVT Raptor comes with Hill Descent Control, industry-exclusive internal triple-bypass FOX Racing Shox dampers, skid plates and a Torsen limited-slip differential for the four-wheel-drive system. As all that equipment does its job, an optional grille-mounted camera can help drivers more easily traverse the unknown by providing a closer look at their path.
Truck buyers are continuing to respond to the impressive capability of the F-150 SVT Raptor, with sales of the model up 14 percent year-to-date compared to the same period in 2012. In fact, the entire F-Series lineup has been gaining sales momentum, rising 17 percent in the first quarter year-over-year. The Ford F-Series accounted for 67,513 sales in the United States last month, good for the pickup truck’s best March since 2007 and a 16 percent increase over the same month last year.
“There’s a reason that the Ford F-Series is untouchable as the country’s best-selling pickup, and that’s because Ford builds on the truck’s do-anything DNA with tons of unique options for buyers,” noted Klein. “The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition will be just another example of Ford offering something that the competition can’t match.”
