Long Island – A father and son have been charged in connection with a $1 million lottery scam. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Deli owner Nabil Jaghab, and his son Karim Jaghab were arrested last week after scamming a customer out of his winnings on a lottery ticket, giving him only $1,000 in cash and keeping the ticket.

Police determined he had won the jackpot after he went to them to report the incident. The Jaghabs have been charged with grand larceny and were ordered held on a $7,500 bond each during arraignment on Saturday.

An attorney for the father and son claim the incident was linked to a lottery machine payout error.
