Russia – The pilot in a plane crash that killed 50 people on board may have had a fake license according to Russian investigators. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin expressed the belief by he and his team on Friday that some pilots in Russia working for small regional airlines had not receive proper training, but were able to obtain fake licenses from certified aviation agencies in the country.

The Russian pilot of the Boeing 737 sent the jet into a vertical dive, and crashed the plane, killing everyone on board. No criminal charges have been filed in connection with the crash, which occurred on Nov. 17.

Markin is quoted by the AP as stating of the speculation surrounding the training given to Rustem Salikhov, the captain of the crashed jet, “(But) investigators have certain doubts about whether the captain of the crashed Boeing had indeed received training there.”

An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
