India – An Indian woman reportedly miscarried 10 babies in one night in what reports have called a medical record. As reported by the Huffington Post, the woman, 28-year-old Anju Kushwaha, delivered nine of the babies prior to arriving at the hospital where the tenth was delivered. Doctors stated that all of them were dead at 12 weeks.
The woman’s multiple pregnancies may have purportedly resulted from fertility drugs. The miscarriages were stated to have followed ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, which is a complication linked to fertility medication.
Dr. Sumitra Yadav, a senior gynecologist, is quoted as telling The Times Of India, “It seems that that there was no regular follow-up of her pregnancy after [in vitro fertilization]… At least three offspring could have been saved by reducing the pregnancy.”
