Massachusetts – A Massachusetts judge is considering a gag order request by the attorneys of former NFL player for the New England Patriots, Aaron Hernandez. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), attorneys for Hernandez, who has been charged with murder in the death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, have alleged that the state has allowed leaks that could place his right to a fair trial in jeopardy.

Defense attorney Michael Fee insisted that Hernandez’s reputation has been tarnished by out-of-court statements reported in the media during a hearing on Monday.

Fee is quoted by the AP as stating to Judge Susan Garsh in court, “Mr. Hernandez is entitled to a fair trial… He is entitled to a jury panel that has not been poisoned by either false or sensational statements.”

A ruling on the formal gag order request was not immediately made by the judge.
