Florida – A man who tricked his girlfriend into taking an abortion pill has been sentenced to 13 years in prison. As reported by Reuters, John Andrew Welden, 29, received his sentence on Monday after previously pleading guilty to related charges.
Weldon gave his pregnant girlfriend, Remee Jo Lee, the prescription drug Cytotec, which can induce abortions, in March of last year, resulting in her terminated pregnancy.
Weldon was charged with tampering with a consumer product resulting in bodily injury and conspiracy to commit mail fraud. He was also ordered during sentencing to pay restitution to his girlfriend in the amount of $28,500 according to prosecutors.
