Alabama – Harper Lee, author of the novel “To Kill a Mickingbird,” has settled a federal lawsuit she filed against a museum located in her hometown. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), a lawyer for Lee filed a motion Tuesday saying she and the Monroe County Heritage Museum had reached an agreement.
Lee, 87, filed the lawsuit last year against the museum over sales of souvenirs that feature her name and her Pulitzer Prize-winning book’s title. According to the lawsuit, the museum made over $500,000 in 2012. Matthew Goforth, an attorney for the museum, is said to have previously stated that the merchandise sales for the museum that year were $28,566.
Any settlement would have to be approved by a judge. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed in the report.
“To Kill a Mockingbird” was published in 1960.
