Ohio – Many people were helped by healthcare advocates in Ohio with enrollment for health insurance plans on the day of the March 31 deadline. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), a number of individuals will not be able to obtain subsidized coverage this year after the deadline for signing up under President Barack Obama’s law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), but some could be granted extensions if eligible.
Ohio is one of 36 states in the U.S. that used the HealthCare.gov federal website for enrollment. Enroll America, a nonprofit organization, is one that helped several people with their efforts to obtain last minute health insurance, including 53-year-old construction worker Karen Ruffin.
Ruffin is quoted by the AP as stating of getting help with finding coverage, “I thought I’d be scratching my head and tapping my feet and frustrated… None of that occurred.”
