California – A lawsuit brought against Office Depot is set to go to mediation after five years. As reported by the Sun Sentinel, the suit was filed by a former employee with the company who alleged it had overcharged government agencies.
The former employee, David Sherwin died in March of this year following a long illness. The state of California and Sherwin’s estate are continuing on with the suit; however. In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Office Depot revealed that the case is set to go to voluntary mediation on June 25. A trial has been set for July 2015 if the parties are unable to reach an agreement on that date.
Karen Denning, a spokeswoman for Office Depot, which is based in Boca Raton, is quoted as stating of the suit in an email, “Office Depot denies the allegations set forth in this lawsuit, and we intend to vigorously defend it.”
