Florida – Florida congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has come under fire from medical marijuana supporters over her stance on related issues. As reported by Reuters, advocacy group Americans for Safe Access (ASA) have purchased ads attacking political leaders that have voted against legislation favoring the legalization of medical marijuana that are set to run until November.

Sean Bartlett, a spokesman for the group, is quoted as stating, “There are just core issues in 2014 and one of those is medical marijuana.”

Wasserman Schultz voted against legislation in Congress that would restrict the enforcement of laws against medical marijuana in states where it’s use is legal by the U.S. Justice Department. This is one of the issues proponents of pro-medical marijuana legislation have taken issue with.

The congresswoman is quoted by Reuters as stating on her website, “My view is that approval of the use of marijuana as a medical treatment should be handled responsibly and in a regulated manner that ensures its approval does not do more harm than good.”
