UPS Store affected by data breach

Washington – UPS Store customers were recently notified about a malware attack that may have compromised their information. As reported by WebProNews, 51 retail locations, and 105,000 individual transactions throughout the U.S. were affected by the data breach.

According to UPS, the information of customers who used their credit cards at any of the 51 affected UPS Stores between January 20 and August 11 of this year may have been impacted.

Tim Davis, President of The UPS Store, Inc., is quoted in the report as stating of the breach, “I understand this type of incident can be disruptive and cause frustration. I apologize for any anxiety this may have caused our customers. At The UPS Store the trust of our customers is of utmost importance.”

UPS has said that any trace of the malware has since been eliminated. Davis is further quoted as stating, “As soon as we became aware of the potential malware intrusion, we deployed extensive resources to quickly address and eliminate this issue. Our customers can be assured that we have identified and fully contained the incident.”
