Texas – The father of a Texas teenager, who made national headlines following a fatal drunk driving accident, which his attorneys partially blamed on him having what they referred to as “affluenza,” was arrested for impersonating a police officer. As reported by Reuters, Frederick Anthony Couch was arrested after an encounter with police during a disturbance call in North Richland Hills.

Police said in a statement about the incident, “Couch reached into his vehicle and took out his wallet displaying what appeared to be a police badge and identification card, suggesting he was a police officer.”

Couch was reportedly released on $2,500 bail following his arrest. Further details about the incident had not been released at the time of the report.

Couch’s 16-year-old son was sentenced to probation after his attorneys argued that his family’s wealth made him unaware of the consequences of his actions. The family has reportedly reached settlements with the families of the victims killed in the accident, which occurred last year.
