Europe – The European Commission has stated that Google will be required to make additional concessions in order to settle a lengthy antitrust probe, involving allegations that the search giant favored its own services in search query results. As reported by the Chicago Tribune, the attempts by European Union regulators to “extract” additional concessions comes after harsh criticism of proposed plans for a settlement.

Companies that opposed the settlement include Microsoft and Expedia, as noted in the report.

Joaquin Almunia, the European Commissioner for Competition, is quoted as stating of the issue during Bloomberg TV interview in Cernobbio, “Some complainants have introduced new arguments, new data, new considerations… We now need to analyze this and see if we can find solutions, Google can find solutions, to some of these concerns that we find justified.”
