Atlantic City – An additional Atlantic City casino may be at risk of closing following a bankruptcy filing by Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. As reported by Bloomberg News, the company, which was founded by business magnate Donald Trump, filed for Chapter 11 in Delaware on Monday.
The company owns the Trump Taj Mahal and Trump Plaza. According to the report, the plaza is set to be closed September 16, while the Taj Mahal may be at risk of closing in November.
A reported 5,200 casino jobs have been lost in September as a result of multiple casino closings.
As noted in the report, a summit was held this week by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and local leaders regarding the future of Atlantic City amid an expansion of gambling into other East Coast states.
