Los Angeles – Amanda Bynes, who was on probation for charges stemming from a previous DUI arrest, was arrested Sunday morning for driving under the influence of a drug. As reported by Access Hollywood, California Highway Patrol confirmed the star was pulled over after stopping her vehicle “in the middle of the intersection” shortly before 4 a.m.
CHP is quoted as saying of the incident in a statement, “The driver, identified by her drivers [sic] license as Ms Amanda Bynes, appeared to be under the influence.”
Bynes was reportedly taken to the West Valley CHP office to be evaluated by a “Drug Recognition Expert.” She was subsequently placed under arrested and transported to LAPD Van Nuys Jail. The actress was released hours later.
A CHP source is further quoted as stating to Access Hollywood, “The suspicion is drugs. It’ll be a couple of weeks before test results are in.”
