Kentucky – A Kentucky teacher resigned from her job after parents of students expressed concerns over her travels outside of the country. As reported by Reuters, Susan Sherman, a religious education teacher and registered nurse, was asked by St. Margaret Mary school to take paid leave for 21-days after she returned from a mission trip in Kenya.

Sherman chose to resign instead of taking the leave. She had yet to comment about her decision to Reuters at the time of the report.

As noted in the report, the Ebola epidemic has mostly affected western Africa, killing over 4,900 people. Kenya is in eastern Africa.
