New York – An investigation has found that an East Haven plane crash was linked to pilot error. As reported by the Hartford Courant, the National Transportation Safety Board has stated that the crash, which occurred in August of last year, occurred after the plane stalled and began an “uncontrolled descent” due to the pilot’s actions.
According to the NTSB report released last month the crash was linked to the pilot’s “failure to maintain airspeed while banking aggressively in and out of clouds for landing in gust tailwind conditions.”
The pilot, Bill Henningsgaard, and three other people were killed in the crash. The plane hit two East Haven homes, killing two children who were in one of the homes.
As further noted in the NTSB report, there were no mechanical malfunctions on the plane prior to the crash.
