New York – Oscar winning director Mike Nichols has died. As reported by WebProNews, Nichols, who was married to ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer passed away at age 83.
ABC News President James Goldston is quoted as releasing the statement regarding the director’s death, “He was a true visionary, winning the highest honors in the arts for his work as a director, writer, producer and comic and was one of a tiny few to win the EGOT-an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony in his lifetime.
“No one was more passionate about his craft than Mike.”
Among Nichols noted films are “The Graduate,” “Annie,” and “Charlie Wilson’s War.”
Nichols is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
