U.S. – A new study suggests that famous television personality Dr. Oz is wrong half the time when dishing out medical advice. As reported by WebProNews, the study by the British Medical Journal found that medical evidence supported just 46% of the doctor’s recommendations after conducting the study on 479 of them provided in 40 of Dr. Oz’s shows last year.

As further noted in the report, 15% of the recommendations contradicted medical evidence and for 39% there was no research evidence available.

The researchers are quoted as writing in their findings, “recommendations made on medical talk shows often lack adequate information on specific benefits or the magnitude of the effects of these benefits. Approximately half of the recommendations have either no evidence or are contradicted by the best available evidence. Potential conflicts of interest are rarely addressed.”
