California – In spite of past assumptions that email would be replaced by social media, it still tops the list of important work tools according to a report by WebProNews. The report says that a new survey revealed that for online workers, 61% of respondents view it as the most important tool.
The Pew Research Center is quoted as stating in its findings, “The high value of email comes despite the challenges of the past generation, including threats like spam and phishing and competitors like social media and texting.”
Pew further states, “Surprisingly, landline phones outrank cell phones for these internet-using workers. Social media is very low in importance.”
As noted by the firm, of the workers sampled those in traditional “white collar” job roles such as executives and business owners especially found email to be essential.
