International writer and speaker Robin Korth’s article, “My Naked Truth,” was listed as the number one Blog Post in 2014 by HuffPost 50. Korth’s real-life story about her encounter with a man who called her ‘too wrinkly’ went viral. Korth received more than 4,000 personal messages from men and women of all ages from around the world, telling her how much this piece meant to them.
Korth says writing “My Naked Truth” was cathartic for her because it allowed her to take a long look at the entire experience of meeting a man four years younger, having him tell her that her body turned him off because it was no longer young, and then coming to terms with her own views about getting older. “So many of us spend a lot of time and money avoiding or erasing any signs of aging, but few of us really take time to honor the wisdom and experience we gather because we’re getting older. The responses I received to this blog post – both positive and negative – showed me that many of us feel ashamed of how we look on the outside and that we are disconnected from our true inner beauty. I thought if I could touch just one other person with this story, I would feel it was worth it to share something so raw and personal. It looks like I was able to do just that, and then some,” said Korth.
In addition to being translated into more than 28 languages, “My Naked Truth” caught the attention of The Today Show, which featured Korth’s story in its This is 50 series, leading up to Hoda Kotb’s 50th birthday. Korth continues to hear from people worldwide, who have been inspired by her experience.
