Nigeria – Militant Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram is believed to be recruiting young girls to be suicide bombers. As reported by WebProNews, the revelation comes after the group’s alleged involvement in a bombing at a crowded market in Nigera.
At least 20 people were killed and several others injured after a 10 year-old girl detonated the bomb at the marketplace. The child was reportedly hiding the bomb under her veil. According to witnesses, vigilante security was screening the young girl prior to her going into the market, and the bomb was detonated after being noticed by security.
A top police official in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja is quoted as stating after the incident, “It’s something quite new, and it’s disturbing, using these young, young girls wearing hijabs…Now, one has to be suspicious of any lady wearing a hijab — whether it’s a young lady, or an old lady.”
As noted in the report, Boko Haram is responsible for the kidnapping of approximately 300 girls from Chibok last year, most of whom are still missing.
