Florida – 1990s rapper Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, was recently arrested and charged with burglary and grand theft of a home next to another he was renovating. Winkle has gone from a career as a rapper to renovating homes for his television show called The Vanilla Ice Project, which airs on the DIY Network.
As reported by WebProNews, police found the property in question in Van Winkle’s home. Included in the allegedly stolen items were a pool heater and furniture. The property owners identified the property before it was returned to them. Van Winkle denied knowingly stealing the items, asserting that the property appeared to be abandoned when he took it. The home was reportedly in foreclosure.
It’s not clear how the arrest will affect Van Winkle’s future on the show.
