California – Apple is reportedly diversifying its emoji options. As reported by WebProNews, the company has provided a new beta of OS X to developers that contains more emoji characters that appear to be representative of various ethnic backgrounds.
As noted in the report, with the new build users can view options for various skin tones for emoji faces, hands, and other body parts.
In addition to the human emoji options, Apple will also add more diverse family emoji options and additional country flags.
Many have been demanding more diversity in the emoji options for some time.
The Unicode Consortium, the organization that controls emoji, reportedly made the decision to make the changes last year.
