Arizona – Jodi Arias has reportedly been spared the death penalty after the jury in her sentencing trial was unable to reach a unanimous verdict. As reported by WebProNews, Judge Sherry Stephens will be required to determine the sentence of Arias, who was convicted in 2013 of the murder of Travis Alexander in 2008.
Arias could be sentenced to life in prison or have a possibility of being paroled after serving 25 years.
The 2013 trial of Jodi Arias gained national attention following widespread media coverage, and a television movie being made about the case. A jury found Arias guilty of killing Alexander, who was stabbed multiple times while in the shower, shot, and nearly decapitated.
The jury at the time remained undecided on whether she should receive the death penalty.
It has yet to be announced when the judge will give her sentencing ruling in the case.
