According to the New York Daily News, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Matthew Cooper recently delivered the landmark ruling allowing 26-year-old Ellanora Baidoo to serve her husband the legal documents using the unconventional method after other methods of attempting to contact him failed.

Baidoo and Victor Sena Blood-Dzraku, who married in 2009, reportedly never consummated their marriage or lived with one another. According to the ruling, the husband kept in contact with his wife only through Facebook and over the phone.

The ruling states that the “post office has no forwarding address for him, there is no billing address linked to his prepaid cell phone, and the Department of Motor Vehicles has no record of him.”

The ruling further reads that Baidoo, “is granted permission serve defendant with the divorce summons using a private message through Facebook…This transmittal shall be repeated by plaintiff’s attorney to defendant once a week for three consecutive weeks or until acknowledged.”

The messages will reportedly be transmitted through Baidoo’s attorney’s account. One message has been sent out so far.
