Staten Island, NY- Amergy Solar, a New York City-based solar provider, donated a solar system that costs up to $75,000 to the family of a boy suffering from a rare and painful skin disease.
John Hudson Dilgen is 13 years old and suffers from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB or butterfly), a skin disease that affects 1 in 50,000 people. John was diagnosed with EB at birth and has been living for 13 years with painful, sometimes full body, blisters and sores that require constant delicate care.
Audrey Casso is a Program Coordinator with The New York Solar Program, Amergy’s sales sector, and a close friend of the Dilgen family. At the beginning of her career with Amergy she practiced discussing the solar process and benefits with the Dilgen family. This included outlining the environmental rewards of going solar and incentives offered by the state of NY.
The Dilgens didn’t want to pass on what seemed like a great financial investment to switch to clean affordable energy and Casso wanted to offer them the best deal possible. This prompted a conversation with Bill Wang, founder and chairman of Amergy Solar. Moved by John’s story and strength, Wang didn’t think twice about donating an entire solar panel system free of charge. Casso said, “At the time I was shocked when Wang offered to donate the solar system, but now having worked with Amergy for a little while I’ve realized that the company really does have the customers best interest at heart.”
