Georgia – A woman whose daughter was one of five nursing students who died in a recent truck accident in Georgia has filed a lawsuit against the trucking company involved. The Associated Press reports the wrongful death lawsuit was filed in Bryan County State Court, seeking damages against Total Transportation of Mississippi and parent company, U.S. Xpress Enterprises, which is based in Tennessee.
Abbie Deloach, 21, was killed along with four other Georgia Southern University nursing students in a chain reaction collision on April 22. The accident took place on Interstate 16 while the students were traveling to Savannah.
The driver of the tractor-trailer involved failed to slow down in traffic stalled by an unrelated accident. The commercial truck crashed into two vehicles, causing one of them to burst into flames. The truck is reportedly registered to Total Transportation. Charges have not been filed against the driver, nor was he named in the wrongful death suit.
