Wisconsin – Television actor Dustin Diamond has been convicted of two misdemeanors in a case stemming from a barroom fight. According to an Associated Press report, Diamond, 38, testified hours prior to his conviction that he did not intend to stab anyone during the tussle, which reportedly occurred on Christmas Day.? The stabbing victim in the case, 25-year-old Casey Smet, testified in court that he was not aware that he had been stabbed until after he left the bar and talked with police. ?
Diamond had pleaded not guilty after being charged with recklessly endangering public safety, carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct. The Wisconsin jury found the actor guilty of the latter two counts, both misdemeanors.
Carrying a concealed weapon carries a maximum prison sentence of nine months and disorderly conduct carries a maximum of 90 days.
Diamond’s girlfriend, Amanda Schutz, who was present during the bar incident, was also convicted of disorderly conduct in connection with the incident. She faces up to 90 days in prison.
A date for sentencing for Diamond and Shultz has yet to be announced.
