Philadelphia – A man charged in connection with a crash that killed a mother and her three sons has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of vehicular homicide, as reported by The Associated Press. Ahmen Holloman, 32, was accused of racing Khusen Akhmedov, 24, while the family was crossing a boulevard in 2013. A fourth son who was also present at the time survived the crash. The woman, 27-year-old Samara Banks, and her children were reportedly not struck by Holloman’s vehicle.
Holloman was sentenced to 5 to 10 years in state prison in accordance with the plea agreement. Common Pleas Judge Steven Geroff offered Holloman told him in court prior to sentencing, “You're not the principal party responsible for these deaths, but you are still responsible.”
Akhmedov has been charged on multiple counts including vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter. According to authorities, it was his car that struck the family. Jury selection for his trial is set to begin Tuesday.
