New York – The families of two men killed in a 2008 construction accident have been awarded $47.8 million by a New York City jury. The Associated Press reported that the jury ordered the owner of the collapsed construction crane and his companies to pay the family of Ramadan Kurtaj $32 million and Donald Leo’s family $15.8 million.
The 2008 accident occurred on Manhattan's Upper East Side when components of a 200-foot-tall crane broke and became detached. Kurtaj was crushed underneath the crane and Leo fell to his death while operating it.
