U.S.? – Reports say that the number of traffic deaths and serious injuries seem to increasing at a steady pace. Forbes reported that a report by the National Safety Council says that traffic fatalities across the U.S. are expected to surpass 40,000 for the first time since 2007. The number of deaths per 100 million miles traveled per vehicle is also expected to rise.

The report that the increase is slated to occur in spite of all of the technological advances that have been made regarding motor vehicle safety.

The NSC suggests a reason for the increase could be the decline in fuel prices and widespread cell phone use.

A previous study by the NSC stated that cell phone use was a factor in a fourth of all traffic crashes.
