An Independent Record Label Starts Music Campaign to Stop Stigma of Opioid Addiction Worldwide

Sound Lion Records  embarks on a global campaign to bring awareness to the opioid crisis and addiction using music and science. The song “ Mama Don’t Give Up” provides inspiration and motivation to individuals and families struggling with addiction. 

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that globally around 164 million people had an alcohol or drug use disorder in 2016. According to U.S Health & Human Services 2.0 million people had an opioid use disorder in 2018 and on average 130 Americans die everyday from opioid overdose. Loved ones do hold a great deal of influence in the life of a person struggling with drugs or alcohol.

The label is on the move to release “Mama Don’t Give Up” EP & Single on August 14, ahead of the national recovery month which is held every September. The initial song which was released on March 27, 2020 has so far gain over 400,000 views on Youtube. 

National Recovery  Month is a national observance held every September to educate Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those with mental health/or substance use disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life. The celebration increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorder and celebrate the people who recover . The song “ Mama Don’t Give Up” provides inspiration and hope for individuals and families battling with addiction & mental health. 

Addiction is  a disease of the brain, not lack of will. As a society, as one nation and as one global body lets support our loved ones struggling with disease.
