West Virginia Camden Park Carnival Ride Accident Injured 3

07/25/2011 // WPB, FL, USA // Personal Injury Lawyers News // Nicole Howley

Huntington, WV — A ride malfunction at Camden Park sent three people to the hospital Saturday night, July 23, 2011. The carnival ride accident occurred around 9:30 p.m., when one of the ride’s legs broke and hit the ground, reported The Charleston Gazette.

Park officials reported that a leg of “The Spider,” broke and fell to the ground, prompting emergency crews to transport three riders to the hospital. No one was riding the leg of the ride that malfunctioned at the time of the accident.

Two of the injured riders were transported to the hospital as a precaution.

“The Spider” ride has small compartments in which the riders are seated in at the end of the spider’s legs. The legs then spin around at high speeds.

The park was shut down immediately following the carnival ride accident.

The ride was last inspected on May 4, according to the West Virginia Division of Labor.

Investigations into what caused the carnival ride accident are underway.

By Sunday morning, all of the park’s 30 rides were in operation, except for “The Spider.”
