Florida – International Polo Club Palm Beach founder John Goodman has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after being convicted of manslaughter in connection with a 2010 crash. As reported by Local 10 news, the 51-year-old mogul was convicted in the death of Scott Wilson on charges of second-degree vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter.
Goodman was also convicted in 2012 in the accident; however, the conviction was overturned due to juror misconduct. He was then sentenced to 16 years as well.
Assistant state attorney Sherri Collins is quoted as stating during the sentencing hearing, “The state is asking that the sentence be no less today because, frankly, the crime is just as horrible today as it was then.”
As noted in the report, Goodman admitted to drinking at the Players Club prior to the accident that killed Wilson; however, he denied that he was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
