Legal news for Ohio criminal attorneys. An employee who received a poor evaluation opened fire at OSU.

Criminal attorneys alert- A Ohio State University custodial worker walked into the maintenance building and began shooting.

Columbus, OH—A disgruntled Ohio State University (OSU) custodial employee, who was apparently angry over a poor performance evaluation, opened fire in the university’s maintenance building, killing a manager before shooting himself. The shooting occurred early Tuesday, March 9, 2010, around 3:30 a.m., as reported by CNN.

Police officials speculate that the suspect, Nathaniel Brown, 51, who was a custodial worker at Ohio State and on probation since October, entered the building in dark clothes with two handguns and began shooting into an office suite, all because he received a poor review. As Brown was shooting, he struck building services manager, Larry Wallington, 48. Brown’s victim was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical teams. Brown also shot operations shift leader, Henry Butler, 60, who was rushed to OSU Medical Center, Denton for treatment. Butler is currently listed in stable condition. Brown then turned the gun on himself and fired the weapon. Police officers discovered Brown at the scene suffering from a self-inflicted gun shot wound, and was rushed to Ohio State University Medical Center, but died before he got there for treatment. The location of the shooting has since been secured, and email alerts were sent out to students informing them about the shooting. A full investigation is underway.
