Dayton, OH—A violent two-vehicle collision Friday, October 15, 2010, sadly claimed the life of the mayor of Moraine, Ohio and injured three others, including a toddler. Police are now in the process of determining whether drag racing was a factor in the deadly collision, according to information provided by WHIOTV.com.
Reports indicated Bob Rosencrans, mayor of Moraine, tried to make a left turn onto Route 35, but instead traveled into the path of a speeding car. Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl stated, “There is a possible third vehicle involved in this incident that is described as a large, white, older-model car.”
Just before the crash occurred, a truck driver told police he saw two white vehicles traveling next to each other at excessive speeds. It has not yet been determined if the cars were drag racing when the fatal Dayton wreck happened.
Rosencrans was killed in the tragic motor vehicle collision (MVC). The driver of the second vehicle, 21-year-old Mark A. Myles, suffered critical injuries in the crash. Two passengers in the vehicle, identified as 20-year-old Rita Higgins and 2-year-old Raan’Ya Myles, also sustained critical injuries.
As of Monday, the child had been treated and released. Myles and Higgins, on the other hand, remained hospitalized with serious injuries.
“We need to evaluate all the factors in that accident. In fact, the entire investigation will be handed over to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office for review,” explained Biehl. A full investigation into the Dayton crash is underway.
