Broward County, FL—A rush hour collision Monday morning, Nov. 1 resulted in injuries ranging from minor to serious. The accident, which involved a Broward County Transit (BCT) bus and car, occurred at the intersection of Powerline Road and Oakland Park Boulevard around 7:30 a.m., as reported by the Orlando Sentinel.

According to information provided, a 39-year-old woman was driving her Chevrolet car when she rear-ended the BCT bus. “There were no skid marks,” said Wilton Manors Police Sgt. Charles Howard, noting that the driver of the car did not appear to apply the brakes prior to impact.

Twenty-seven people were aboard the BCT bus at the time. Howard stated personnel from the Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park, Pompano Beach, and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue departments responded to the scene and rushed 10 of those individuals to area hospitals for treatment. Minor injuries sustained in the bus accident consisted mostly of lacerations and neck pain.

The female driver of the Chevrolet suffered the most severe injuries and had to be extricated from her wrecked car after the accident. She was taken to Broward General Medical Center, as were many of the crash victims, to be treated for leg and pelvis injuries.

Wilton Manors police are expected to conduct a full investigation into the bus-car collision.
