Conference to Explore Emerging Defense Export Control Reforms

/EIN News/ Los Angeles, May 13, 2009 – The American Institute of Engineers, in association with Technology Training Corporation, will host a conference on the latest Defense Export Controls, in Washington, DC, June 25-26, 2009.

The conference brings together senior experts from the Department of Defense, Commerce, Treasury, State, Justice, the legal community, and aerospace and defense industries. They will examine the current status and future directions of potential defense export control reforms and modernization, including key issues associated with end-use, jurisdiction, dual use, and deemed exports. They will also discuss special challenges associated with the control of communications, computers, nuclear, space and other sensitive technologies. In addition, speakers will address best practices in licensing and compliance and provide blueprints for setting up global export control and compliance programs.

Highlights will include presentations by the Honorable Matthew Borman, Assistant Secretary for Export Administration, Commerce Department; Dr. Link Spann, Director of Technology Security, Navy International Program Office; Ms. Barbara Hammerle, Deputy Director, Office of Foreign Assets Control, Treasury; Mr. John Hall, Director, Export Control, NASA; Mr. Frank Kenlon, Director, International Negotiations, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics; Mr. Gregory Suchan, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs; Dr. Steven Goldman, former Director, Office of Nonproliferation and Treaty Compliance; and many others.
